Cambodia and Australia trade ministers meet to discuss increased trade and investment

Cambodia’s Trade Minister met with his Australian counterpart to discuss opportunities and ways to boost trade and investment in the country.

Cambodian Trade Minister Pan Sosak and Australian Trade, Tourism and Investment Minister Dan Tehan and Australian Ambassador to Cambodia met by video conference on October 25 to discuss bilateral trade between the two countries. They discussed trade within the framework of international trading partners.

The two ministers discussed and exchanged views on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) of which the two countries are members. Minister Sosak also informed his counterpart of the completion of the internal procedure for the ratification of the Cambodia-ASEAN Agreement. Minister Sosak said the success of Cambodia’s presidency of ASEAN depends on the cooperation and support of member states, especially the ASEAN Secretariat.

Minister Tehan congratulated Cambodia on its appointment as President of ASEAN for 2022 and expressed his support and willingness to help Cambodia fulfill this role. The Minister also congratulated Cambodia on the success of its vaccination program.
