CSR: Essar provides shelter at Jay Janardan Aashram in Nashik

The Essar Foundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of Essar, continues to maintain its support of uplifting communities. He has set a new milestone by providing a new home and essentials for the residents of “Jay Janardan Swami Aashram” in Lasalgaon, Nashik, helping them lead a comfortable life.
Jay Janardan Swami Aashram, an abandoned orphanage and home for the aged, is located 320 km from Mumbai and is located inside Maharashtra in a small village – Lasalgaon.
The Essar Foundation has provided ongoing support and assistance to the Aashram for the construction of their new premises which will function as living quarters for the residents and additionally ensure their well-being.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Dominic Dsouza, Chief Operating Officer of the Essar Foundation, said: “The Essar Foundation lives up to Essar’s philosophy of ‘creating value’, not only for its internal and external stakeholders, but also for communities. It gives us great pleasure to extend our support to Jay Janardan Swami Aashram to create holistic human-centered development and improve the quality of life of its residents.
Mr. Dilip Gunjal, Secretary of Jay Janardan Swami Orphanage, said in his testimony, “The Essar Foundation has taken us under their wing and provided us with the greatest contribution since the inception of the Ashram. We would like to thank Essar for their generous support as they helped us provide shelter for our children.
The Ashram is run by a couple – Mr. Dilip Baburao Gunjal and Mrs. Sangeeta Dilip Gunjal and is home to over 90 children (including handicapped and mentally handicapped) and around 20 elderly people. The children were mostly orphaned or abandoned at a very young age and have been rehabilitated through the goodwill and continuous efforts of the Ashram. Many alumni were tragically ousted by their own parents once they grew old.
The children were enrolled in the local municipal school for their education.
