The Speaker of the House of Qatar, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani, highlighted Qatar’s relations with France, saying the Western European nation is “an important trading partner of the state.
Cheikh Khalifa made this statement during a meeting with members of a business delegation from the Qatari-French Economic League (Cadran) and the international branch of the Mouvement des entreprises de France (MEDEF), who are currently in visit to the country.
Qatari Ambassador to France Sheikh Ali bin Jassim al-Thani also attended the meeting, alongside a number of members of the Qatari House Board of Directors and several Qatari businessmen. leading.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the trade and investment relations between Qatar and France and ways to strengthen them, as well as the investment opportunities available in the two countries and the possibility of establishing new business alliances.
Cheikh Khalifa underlined the chamber’s interest in strengthening cooperative relations between Qatari businessmen and their French counterparts to help increase the bilateral trade of the two countries, which amounted to QR 5 billion (1 , 2 billion euros) in 2020.
“France is an important trading partner of Qatar,” he said, adding that there are many Qatari investors and businessmen in France, which has “an attractive investment environment and ‘viable opportunities’.
Cheikh Khalifa also praised Cadran and MEDEF’s role in bringing together the Qatari and French private sectors and establishing a solid base for forging alliances and commercial partnerships between companies from the two countries.
Cadran is an independent, non-profit organization created in 2015 that counts among its members the main Qatari commercial institutions operating in France and large French companies operating in Qatar, among others.
It also aims to organize annually various academic and social events to promote dialogue and exchange of views between Qatari and French companies in order to better understand and understand future investment projects.
MEDEF is an employers’ federation founded in 1998, which represents French companies and is very important in the French social debate. Its vocation is to represent French companies with State institutions and unions. It has more than 750,000 member companies.
