Norway signed aquamarine deal to collaborate with MARD Vietnam

The letter of intent was signed yesterday between the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries (MTIF) represented by State Secretary Ms. Trine Danielsen and the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development ( MARD) represented by Deputy Minister Phùng Đức Tiến.
The signing ceremony took place virtually at MARD with the participation of Norwegian Ambassador to Vietnam Ms. Grete Løchen, Norwegian Trade Advisor Mr. Arne-Kjetil Lian and relevant MARD departments.

Deputy Minister Tien was very pleased that the two ministries agreed to sign this letter of intent, he said: “This serves as a basis to facilitate and support our authorities, universities and businesses in their cooperation to the development of the marine aquaculture industry ”

Expressing her wish to visit Vietnam, the Secretary of State said: “This event was supposed to take place last year as part of an official visit by the Minister of MTIF to Vietnam, but was canceled due to the Covid-19. This is another step to strengthen Norway-Vietnam cooperation in this sector. “

Ambassador Grete Løchen said: “2021 is a special year for Norway and Vietnam as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our diplomatic relations. Building on nearly 40 years of effective and close cooperation in the fisheries sector, I believe this would further strengthen the cooperation between the two ministries and our companies in the marine aquaculture sector and thereby promote trade and bilateral investments’,
Prior to that, a webinar on the development of marine aquaculture in Vietnam on an industrial scale co-hosted by the Royal Norwegian Embassy, ​​Innovation Norway, MARD and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), which attracted over 150 people.
