Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik unveils 7 projects and lays the groundwork for 10 more – The New Indian Express
BHUBANEWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday inaugurated seven industrial units and laid the foundation stones for 17 more, representing a total investment of 999.99 crore rupees. These units will generate jobs for more than 2,387 people.
While the seven inaugurated industrial units were set up with an investment of over Rs 152.27 crore, a cumulative expenditure of Rs 847.72 crore will be made for the remaining 10 units that would come. The diversified projects cover the sectors of food processing, tourism, plastics, manufacturing and fertilizers. Some of the top companies promoting the projects include IFFCO, Ramco Cements, and Coastal Biotech. Many units that participated in the dedication ceremony have obtained their approval in principle over the past three months.
Welcoming the social responsibilities of enterprises in Odisha-based industries, the chief minister said that they actively partner with the state government not only for economic development, but also to fulfill social responsibility. When the whole country witnessed a shortage of medical oxygen during the peak of the second wave of Covid-19, Odisha reacted proactively and supported other states to supply her.
“We have always strived to provide a hassle-free and fluid business environment for investors. Even in these difficult times of Covid-19, the state has attracted significant investment and continues to enjoy investor confidence. We are launching new industrial projects in various sectors ranging from cement to food processing, tourism and agribusiness, which is a testament to our efforts to attract investment in different sectors, ”said Naveen.
Speaking on the occasion, Industry Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra said the government has taken several initiatives to attract investment in sectors that provide jobs to large numbers of people.
“The government is committed to integrating more women into the labor market and offering them a better standard of living. Empowering women is not just a slogan for us, but a commitment to the people of Odisha, ”he said. Among others, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, Principal Secretary of Industries Hemant Sharma, 5T Secretary VK Pandian and MSME Secretary Satyabrata Sahu were present.
