TriStar Greenview and HCA Healthcare Announce $ 250,000 Contribution to Storm Relief Efforts

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital and its parent company, HCA Healthcare, today announced a contribution of $ 250,000 to support organizations providing relief in the Bowling Green area and across western Kentucky, the areas hardest hit by the destructive tornado ravages last weekend.

HCA Healthcare will contribute to the following organizations:

• American Red Cross – $ 100,000

• United Way of Southern Kentucky Tornado Crisis and Recovery Fund – $ 100,000

• Governor Beshear’s Western Kentucky Team Tornado Relief Fund – $ 50,000

On December 10 and 11, 2021, a violent weather system that produced multiple tornadoes moved across six states, destroying thousands of homes in its path, leaving many without shelter or adequate supplies, and killing at least 70 people.

The majority of the TriStar Greenview workforce lives in Bowling Green, and many members of the TriStar Greenview family have sustained significant damage to their homes and property.

“For nearly 50 years, the TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital has played a vital role in Bowling Green and the South Central Kentucky region, and I am very proud of our teams who braved the aftermath of the storm to heal patients and for each other. said Mike Sherrod, CEO of TriStar Greenview. “As we stand with our community to weather the ravages of the storm, we realize that the needs of our region extend beyond the four walls of our hospital. We are proud to make this donation to help the people of Bowling Green and the surrounding area, and our hearts ache for those whose loss is irreplaceable.

In anticipation of inclement weather, TriStar Greenview took steps to ensure the hospital had enough staff, supplies, food and electricity to operate and care for patients during and after the storm.

Doctors, nurses and support staff provided a formidable response to the aftermath of the storm, providing critical emergency care to patients with storm-related injuries.

TriStar Greenview and TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, treated patients injured in the storm. In addition, the two hospitals organize blood drives to meet the increased blood needs following the storms.

To support colleagues in this disaster and others, HCA Healthcare established the HCA Healthcare Hope Fund, an employee-run 501 (c) (3) charity that provides financial assistance and resources to employees after illness. prolonged injury, disaster, or other special situations.

In 2020, the HCA Healthcare Hope Fund provided more than $ 10.6 million in grants that helped more than 4,900 families.
