Up to 5K Federal Funding Available for Overdue Water Bills | WIVT
UNITED STATES (WWTI) – Federal funds are available for low-income families to make up for their overdue water and sewer bills.
Funding is available under the Low Income Household Water Supply Assistance Program. The program is based on the amount of overdue bills a household owes its drinking water or wastewater supplier.
The program will provide funds up to $ 2,500, or $ 5,000 with drinking water and wastewater services combined. Benefits will be paid directly to the household drinking water or sanitation supplier.
Eligibility for benefits is based on income, household size and amount owed on past water bills. Households may be eligible if they house a U.S. citizen or receive benefits from other programs such as the Home Energy Assistance Program, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Temporary Assistance, or Income additional security code A.
Other factors can affect a household’s eligibility if it pays their water supplier directly and their account is 20 days past the due date and at risk of losing their services. The gross monthly household income will also be assessed and must be equal to or less than the income criteria given below.
|Household size||Maximum gross monthly income|
|Each additional||Add $ 568|
Applications for the program are now being accepted and can be fulfilled in line. Applicants must provide proof of identity, social security numbers, proof of residence, a drinking water, wastewater or combined drinking water and wastewater bill showing your permanent residence and supporting documents of income.
